Owning the super fast expensive zoom glass didn't make much financial sense for me, for the few times I actually needed it, it was easier/cheaper to rent from a place in town. I saved my money for the nicer everyday glass. That being said I can't find much reason to lug around a DSLR anymore short of track days. That being said if I was shopping for a new body today I'd be looking for a full frame body, but keeping in mind they are a bit different and take getting used to compared to shooting a crop sensor. I've been eyeballing the D600, but the D90 does a fine job already.
